If you are concerned about where a company (large or small) is taking the materials they receive ask to see the audits they have of their downstream partners. They should be able to show you where all the material they take in goes to be processed - pound for pound. Their partners have to be credible too and should have a solid paper trail. Good e-waste recyclers audit their partners and can provide records for review by clients or by the EPA - if they ever check! Executive - the company in this story - appears to be blaming some of their downstream partners but Executive is responsible for ensuring what they take in is processed all the way in a responsible way. They should have an audit trail but apparently 60 Minutes did a better audit!
